She Will Be . . .

(Warning: The words within this poem depict how I have often seen myself, not necessarily what is true. I am fully aware that unconditional love surrounds me from God, my family, and my friends, and I love them, as well.)
What if God Had told my parents
Exactly what I'd be like
In the way I see myself?
He might say
Something like this,
"She'll be pretty.
She'll love the way
Her blue eyes sparkle.
Her freckles
Will make her tear up
And smile
Because they remind her
Of her grandpa.
She will be
Small.
Her thoughts will matter
To her,
But to anyone else,
They won't.
She is going to
Look into a mirror
And some days see a skeleton,
Some days see an elephant.
She will have love
That I give her,
And in turn,
She will give it out
To whomever she chooses,
Despite what anyone says.
She will want to be
Alone
So that she can meet with Me.
She will try.
She will do what she loves.
She won't be enough.
She will never be enough.
Her own family
Will break her heart
Without giving her
A chance
To explain it.
She will know
That she is beautiful,
But the eyes of her heart
Will never see it.
She will know
She is loved by many,
But feel more pain
Than love.
She will be
Weak,
Insignificant,
Broken."
